Music in motion: music for dance
In this program we take you from the decadent Viennese balls of the early 20th century in Maurice Ravel’s La Valse, through the heat of southern Spain in the vibrant Andalusian dances of Manuel Infante, to the magically surreal and melancholic Argentina of Carlos Guastavino.
We bring the music to life by having dancers join in our interpretation of Maurice Ravel’s exquisite La Valse, Manuel Infante’s Danses Andalouses and Carlos Guastavino’s Pieces for 2 pianos. The choreography is based on the thematic elements of the compositions and was created by our two dynamic and contrasting dancers. In its integral form, this performance is a small-scale dialogue between two dancers and two pianists, balancing the power of movement and sound from soft and gentle passages to spirited outbreaks.
The sensuality in music is best seen with dance…
